A warm, straightforward welcome for children aged two to five — here is everything you need to know about starting with us.

How to join

Four simple steps

1 · Get in touch

Call or email us, or book a visit through the site, and tell us a little about your child and the days you are hoping for.

2 · Come and see us

Visit the nursery, meet the team and get a genuine feel for the setting — this is the most important step of all.

3 · Register your place

When you are happy, we will help you complete a simple registration form to secure your child's place.

4 · Settle in gently

We ease every child in at their own pace, with settling sessions designed to make those first days calm and happy.

Flexible days that fit family life

We offer both morning and full-day sessions during term time, and we will happily talk through the pattern of days that works best for your family and your child's stage. Because we are a small setting, places are limited and much loved, so we always recommend getting in touch early.

Exact term and inset dates for the current academic year follow the local Hammersmith & Fulham calendar and are confirmed when your child joins us — just get in touch and we will send you the dates for this year.

Frequently asked questions

What ages does Dawmouse take?

We welcome children from two years old through to school age, generally up to five. Younger twos and rising threes learn alongside our older children in a gentle mixed-age Montessori setting, so do talk to us about the right starting point for your child.

What are your session times and hours?

We run morning sessions and full days across the week during term time. Mornings suit younger children easing into nursery life, while full days give older children a longer, richer Montessori routine. Tell us the days you have in mind and we will find a pattern that fits.

How does settling-in work for a new child?

Settling-in is gentle and led by your child. We begin with short, frequent visits so they grow familiar with our rooms, our routines and our team before their first full session, and a parent is welcome to stay close by until everyone feels ready.

Can we use funded hours towards a place?

Yes. Eligible families can put government funded early-education hours towards a place at Dawmouse, including funding for eligible two-, three- and four-year-olds. Funding covers the early-years curriculum, and we ask for a voluntary contribution towards our Montessori resources and extra activities. Ask us to check your eligibility.
